The new MacBook Pros are a minor upgrade over the previous models, which were announced in October 2021, but they do include several notable new features and changes. We've outlined five of the most interesting facts about the new Mac laptops below.
- Unlike in the past, Space Gray models of the new MacBook Pro now include a Space Gray color-matched MagSafe charging cable. Space Gray models used to come with a silver MagSafe cable.
- The MacBook Pros and updated Mac mini support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 standards for the first time in a Mac. Both new enhancements will improve connection reliability and performance, especially in densely populated areas.
- In addition to new chips, the new MacBook Pros have an updated HDMI port that now supports HDMI 2.1. The MacBook Pro will be able to support an 8K resolution display at 60Hz thanks to HDMI 2.1. chip.
- Previous-generation MacBook Pros could only be customized with up to 64GB of unified memory. Customers can, however, configure their MacBook Pro with up to 96GB of RAM thanks to the new M2 Max chip.
- The new 16-inch MacBook Pro has up to 22 hours of battery life, the longest battery life ever offered in a Mac, thanks to the improved performance of the M2 Pro and M2 Max.
The new MacBook Pros start at $1,999 and are available for pre-order on Apple's online store beginning today. Customers will be able to purchase the updated MacBook Pros and Mac mini starting on Tuesday, January 24.
